DuraLabel 4000
Manufacturer: Graphic Products
Status: Confirmed LOCKED
The DuraLabel 4000 is marketed as an entry-level, economical thermal transfer label printer. While the DuraLabel 4000 is touted as a money-saver, what they don't tell you is that the cheaper supplies come in shorter rolls, often costing you more per label.
Locking Mechanism: RFID
Confirmed through FCC
What the makers of the DuraLabel 4000 also fail to mention is that the DuraLabel 4000 is a locked printer. That means instead of saving you more by allowing you to shop around or get competitive quotes and bids, the DuraLabel 4000 locks you in to purchasing supplies from a single source, who can set the price however and whenever they want. The DuraLabel 4000, like the other printers in the DuraLabel line, is locked with an RFID mechanism, which is admitted to in the required FCC filings.

So the DuraLabel 4000 is locked, what now?
The DuraLabel 4000 claims to save you money, yet it locks you out from shopping around on supplies. That means:
- The DuraLabel 4000 saves you LESS because you can't shop around for supplies
- The DuraLabel 4000 saves you LESS because you can't get competitive bids or quotes
- The DuraLabel 4000 saves you LESS because you are locked in to one supplier
- The DuraLabel 4000 saves you LESS because they sell supplies in shorter rolls
- The DuraLabel 4000 saves you LESS because expensive RFID locking components are reflected in the price
To top it off, Graphic Products doesn't make the DuraLabel 4000
DL4000 is a Godex Printer
The DuraLabel 4000 is really just a re-branded Godex printer, with supply locking added. That means you can purchase not only a similar model, but the exact same printer, elsewhere without the locking. When you shop around, make sure you purchase from a company that offers exceptional free tech support, and the proper software and supplies for your application (you'd be surprised how big a difference this makes!)
